Migraines can occur in children as young as four years of age; most boys will outgrow migraines by their early teens. Girls, however, usually experience more migraines as they enter adolescence as a result of hormonal changes. Most children who have migraines have inherited the tendency, especially if they also experience motion sickness.

Cause of migraines are often called “vascular headaches” because they occur when the blood vessels constrict or expand. Although constricting blood vessels do not cause pain, they can temporarily affect vision or balance. It is when blood
vessels dilate, however, that their expansion triggers pain. In some children, certain things trigger a migraine, such as stress, a change in routine or
sleep patterns, bright lights, loud noises, or certain foods and beverages.

This is particularly important because obesity is linked to the development of diabetes, heart disease, and cancers caused by or linked to unhealthy diet and lack of physical activity.

To help keep children at a healthy weight, parents should:
• avoid serving too much fruit juice or fruit juice drinks, which have lots of simple sugar
• not use food as a bribe, reward, or incentive for children
• not insist that children clean their plates. Instead, parents should reinforce the idea that they
should only eat when they are hungry.
• not completely eliminate all sweets and favorite snacks from an overweight child’s diet, which
could make a child overeat these forbidden foods outside the home
• schedule family meals together
• serve a variety of healthy foods in moderation

Autism is complex developmental disorder of brain function causes impaired social interaction, problems with verbal and nonverbal communication, and unusual or severely limited activities and interests. Autism significantly impairs a child’s ability to communicate and socialize with others. Autism is not a mental illness or a behavior problem, and it is not caused by bad parenting.

Symptoms of autism usually appear during the first three years of childhood and continue throughout life. Children with autism have little interest in friends or social interactions, often failing to develop verbal and nonverbal communication skills. Although there is no cure, appropriate early educational intervention may improve social development and reduce undesirable behaviors.

The cause of autism is not known. Research suggests that autism is a genetic condition. It is believed that several genes are involved in the development of autism. Children with autism should be trained in functional living skills at the earliest possible age. Learning to cross a street, to buy something in a store, or ask for help are critical skills and may be hard even for those with average intelligence. Training is aimed at boosting a person’s independence and providing opportunity for personal choice and freedom.

Children who experience a physical or emotional trauma, such as witnessing a shooting, surviving physical or sexual abuse, or being in a car accident, may develop post-traumatic stress disorder. Children are more easily traumatized than adults: An event that may not be traumatic to an adult might be to a child, such as a turbulent plane ride.

A child with traumatic stress disorder will experience symptoms of general anxiety, including trouble sleeping and eating or being irritable. Many children may exhibit other physical symptoms as well, such as being easily startled.

Effective treatment for anxiety disorders may include some form of psychotherapy, behavioral therapy, or medications. Children who exhibit persistent symptoms of an anxiety disorder should be referred to and evaluated by a mental health professional who specializes in treating children. The evaluation may include psychological testing and consultation with other specialists. A comprehensive treatment plan should be developed with the family, and whenever possible, the child should be involved in making treatment decisions.

People normally cool themselves by sweating and releasing heat through the skin. Under certain circumstances, such as unusually high temperatures, high humidity, or vigorous exercise in hot weather, this natural cooling system may begin to fail, allowing internal heat to build up to dangerous levels. The result may be heat illness, which can be in the form of heat cramps, heat exhaustion, or heatstroke.

For children, it can occur when they in a hot climate or environment has not been drinking enough fluids. A child can lose up to a quart of sweat during a two-hour sports game, and children are more susceptible to dehydration and heat exhaustion than adults; active children who do not drink enough are most at risk.

Your baby feet need protection from rough surfaces and hot or cold temperatures. A good pair of shoes is important for your baby, you need to choose one that fit properly. You can spend all your money on a pair of high quality shoes, but if they do not fit your baby feet properly, their feet will feel worthless by the end of the day.

When selecting your child’s shoes, it is important to consider your baby’s growth. Baby shoes are needed to protect the feet, not help with walking or foot development. Baby shoes also should be lightweight, flexible and shaped more or less like the foot itself.

There are so many baby shoes on the market, but still you want something that will be comfortable and allow baby to walk. Beside consider the size of baby’s shoes for safety and comfort, style and look of those cute shoes are an adorable added bonus. You can choose trendy baby Onesies as your baby shoes.

Remember that it is important to provide baby with soft-soled shoes as opposed to hard shoes. Your child is learning to move the feet to master their movements. Hard soles on shoes only hinder this process for your child.

Colds and flu is the common viral infections that affect the upper respiratory tract. The most common means of spreading cold and flu infections is through hand contact such as shaking hands and touching surfaces such as doorknobs and elevator buttons that someone with a cold or the flu has just touched. Though viral particles enter the air through actions such as sneezing and coughing, they are present in far greater concentrations on the hands of people who are infected. They also settle from the air onto other surfaces fairly quickly. Frequent hand washing with warm water and antibacterial soap, as well as cleaning common surfaces with antibacterial solutions, are the most effective methods of preventing the spread of infection.
