Investment options have grown dramatically. There are so many safe investment you can find on the market. One of popular type of investment is certificate of deposit or CDs. Certificate of deposits are investments for security that pay interest on a specific amount of money for a specific period of time. Investments in CDs very interesting because allow you get higher interest rate than regular savings account.

CDs are issued by banks, credit unions, savings and loan associations in various denominations and maturities. They have traditionally been issued in small and large amounts ranging from approximately $1,000 to $100,000. Common maturity dates of CDs are one month, three months, six months, one year, and much more. The larger the amount and longer the maturity, the greater interest rate you get. It is also important to remember that if you withdraw your funds before maturity time, you will pay a penalty that may run as high as three months of interest for CDs maturing within one year.
